Tampa’s J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has teamed up with cigar accessories maker Brizard & Co. for a patriotic package that includes three cigars and a leather cigar case—and everything is made in America.
Modeled after Brizard’s “Showband 3” cigar case, the new design is called The American. It’s made in California at Brizard’s workshop with a Spanish cedar lining and covered in a handsome skin of aniline leather, which Brizard says is an American leather sure to develop a patina over time. Inside are three Robustos from J.C. Newman’s The American brand, a line of cigars made in Tampa entirely from American-grown tobaccos. According to the company, these cigars were rolled in 2019.
Only 250 cases are being produced, each with The American’s brand logo embossed in the leather and an engraved brass plate indicating the serial number. The case and cigars have a suggested retail price of $250 each, and will be sold through the 102 retailers that carry The American cigars.
J.C. Newman will start taking orders on the Fourth of July, but the case will also be available at the upcoming PCA show before they ship to retailers on July 15.
