111 Bistro in Medina has scheduled an Italian wine dinner with Viberti Giovanni Winery.The Plain Dealer

MEDINA, Ohio – 111 Bistro has scheduled a five-course dinner featuring wines from Viberti Giovanni Winery in Italy.

Arrival is 6:15 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29.

Course 1: Beet salad, hazelnut, herb goat cheese, olive oil, lemon. Wine: La Gemella Rosata. Course 2: Fennel and apple salad, scallop, beurre blanc. Wine: Chardonnay Piemonte DOC.

Course 3: Roasted vegetable and tomato risotto, olive. Wine: La Gemella Barbera d’Alba DOC.

Course 4: Duck and foie gras agnolotti, marsala sauce. Wine: Dolcetta d’Alba Superiore DOC. Course 5: Braised-beef short rib, cannellini bean and white truffle puree. Wine: Buon Padre Barolo DOCG.

DOC and DOCG are two of the stamps of approval given to wines that meet Italian requirements of winemaking, aging and quality standards.

The winery, which has been around close to 100 years, is about 50 miles east of France and about 40 miles south of Turin.

Cost is $75 ($50 without wine). Tickets are online. When reserving, note allergies or seating requests.
