You'll never need to use a blunt razor again
Whether you shave pre-IPL treatment, or just find nothing delivers silky-soft limbs like a good old-fashioned razor, there's now an even simpler way to achieve a fuss-free shave: a razor subscription box.
It’s as simple as getting a Good Housekeeping magazine subscription delivered to your door every month, providing you with everything you need for smoother skin. From sharp new razor blades to a shaving gel top-up, these services will make sure you never run out of your hair removal essentials.
Not sure which shaving service to go for? The Good Housekeeping Institute's panel of testers put the best to the test for two months. These are their top picks:
Most razor subscription services allow you to customise your delivery times to fit in with your hair removal routine. And with services available for both men and women - from full starter kits to a simple set of fresh blades - there’s one to suit everyone's needs.
There are a few variables to keep in mind when making your choice, though:
Add-ons: Suffer from sensitive skin? Or keen to avoid razor burns? Then look out for services that offer the option to add on a shaving foam or moisturiser.
Eco-friendly: This term gets thrown around a lot, but with billions of plastic razors ending up in landfills every year, there's a conversation to be had around what your razor is made of. Most subscription boxes use less plastic packaging (as products aren't individually wrapped) than you usually get in store, and are made from materials like steel or brass to make sure they last longer than a cheaper plastic option.
Design: If you're a perfectionist looking for a smooth shave, it's worth looking at whether the blades themselves have any additional extras (such as being coated with aloe and shea butter) to help achieve silkier skin.
We trialled 11 razor delivery services with our panel of 165 testers, to see which subscription came out on top.
Our testers tried them out over eight weeks, grading them on how convenient the delivery was, how easy the products were to use, and how well each razor got rid of hair.
These are the services they rate:
Made from Swedish steel and featuring a unique flexible hinge design to glide across the contours of the body, our winning shaver made it easy for everyone to reach tricky areas (such as around the knees and ankles).
The blades are coated with aloe and shea butter to help keep things smooth too, and our entire panel commended their comfortable, close shave. All testers appreciated the luxe feel to the kit and were happy with the efficiency of the delivery.

The blades eliminated hair effectively for all, and everyone said they experienced a close yet gentle shave, that left behind silky-soft skin.
Note: the order process was trickier than most on our list – there's no advice on how many blades are needed (the usual recommendation is changing them every 5-7 shaves) and no Paypal or Apple pay options. However, the delivery service was efficient, coming in letterbox-friendly packaging.

While many kits on our list focus on being more sustainable than store-bought razors – whether that be due to recycling schemes or long-lasting blades – Nuddy takes it to the next level with its completely plastic-free service.
The solid brass razor gave most of our panel a comfortable shave, while the blades were long-lasting and rust-free. Testers appreciated the fun colours the razors came in but were confused about how best to safely and sustainably dispose of them (Nuddy recommends taking them to your local metal waste bank).
Despite the confusion, most said they'd continue to use the service, with one tester saying it provided "the smoothest shave ever".
